Abstract
Greening transport plays a key role in fulfilling climate goals and carbon neutrality. The sector is responsible for one fifth of greenhouse gas emissions in Hungary. Electric transport creates the possibility of zero emissions, so the Green Strategy can be implemented by supporting the spread of electric cars and implementing the Green Bus program. Our goal is to realize climate strategy, green transport, sustainability by taking into account the financial possibilities. Financial support is needed to put transport on less polluting fundaments. It can involve introducing a new type of tax or supplementing existing taxes. Based on the polluter pays principle, this can be mileage or consumption based. At the same time, the increase in fuel costs for heavy duty vehicles reduces competitiveness, so compensation is needed for the sustainable operation of hauliers and delivery companies.
