Macro test for the testing of bonds

Abstract

Some measured multistage oedometric relaxation test data of soils are discussed. This test reflect the energy storage capacity of the soil determined by the contact bonding behaviour of the particles. The results indicate that this test can be a candidate test for a mean particle contact bond qualification (reflecting the energy storage capacity of the bonds as an average) and for the determination of the tensile strength of (quasi-)saturated soils.
