In my presentation, I will introduce the data analysis methods used in
functional brain imaging. I will review the pre-processing steps used to improve the signal-
to-noise ratio. I will describe the basics of blind source separation (BSS) methods—
independent component analysis (ICA) and extended spatial decorrelation (ESD)—and
how these methods can be applied in modern functional brain imaging, such as optical
imaging of internal (within human body) signals or functional magnetic resonance
imaging.
