The purpose of the thesis is multifaceted. On one
hand, I will investigate the feasibility of producing flat
shapes that serve as the basis for different purpose BIM
models, depending on reliability. On the other hand, I would
like to examine separately the reliability of the various low-
cost total stations nowadays, for such measurements. An
earlier study dealt with the use of low-cost targets for laser
scanning. In connection with this, an attempt was made to
measure the extent to which the used styrofoam spheres
available in decoration shops can be considered as perfect
spherical shapes and whether they may have flatness.
