Solving Olympiad Problems Via Lagrange Multipliers

Abstract

There are a lot of hard problems concerning inequalities in mathematical olympiads which have an elegant elementary solution. In this paper we will do the contrary of the traditional approach: we will try to give a method which solves a large number of these problems using the same basic idea (but the solution will not always be less complicated).
