Optimally loading pallets is a challenge and can be a time-consuming task for
many industrial and logistics applications. To help solve this problem, we proposed an
augmented reality (AR) application that assists warehouse workers during the pallet
loading process. For this reason, an algorithm for solving the Pallet Loading Problem
(PLP) was defined first. All input data (name, dimensions and quantity of boxes that need
to be loaded on the pallet), which actually form a loading order, are then transferred to the
warehouse with the generated QR code. A warehouse worker scans the QR code and gets a
visual representation of how to load the boxes onto the pallet on the lens of their smart
glasses. The experimental results show that the proposed system successfully facilitates and
speeds up the process of shipping products from the warehouse to customers.
