Environmental Effects of Alkaline Degreasing for Automotive, Boat and Machine Industry Purposes

Abstract

We focus on the alkaline degreasing process, for the cleaning of the aluminum, iron and steel products, used in automotive, boat manufacturing and machinery applications. The environmental impacts have been evaluated by Life-Cycle Assessment, with a special focus, on the improvement of microbiological contamination as a mitigation option.
