Abstract
Additive manufacturing technologies have been gradually gaining importance over the past two decades, and their relevance in industry is being increasingly reinforced by countless feasibility studies. The medical industry is one of the most potent application fields for additive manufacturing, since the freedom of design such technologies allow for using a wide array of materials makes previously unimaginable devices feasible. The integration of these technologies into healthcare systems offers numerous advantages, including the customization and personalization of medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and equipment, enhanced cost-efficiency, and improved training methodologies. In this review, a scoping literature overview was conducted in order to identify the most important use cases, limitations and future directions of additive manufacturing in the domain of digital medtech.
