<description>The Use of Composite Materials in the Production of Tower Cranes
Tulekov, Auyezkhan; Togizbayeva, Baglan; Kenesbek, Inkara; Kenesbek, Anuar; Zabiyeva, Aliya
This scientific article examines the use of innovative materials, such as composite&#13;
materials, on lifting vehicles, in particular on a high-rise tower crane. Facilitation of&#13;
structural components is a new field of research developed specifically for the production of&#13;
special vehicles. The research work will begin primarily with identifying the dimensions of a&#13;
tower crane using the example of the Chinese model QTZ 80A, which is used at many&#13;
construction areas, then conducting the experimental part using software and the finite&#13;
element method (FEM). The parameters of the research will be as follows: maximum&#13;
deformation, maximum stress and bending of the boom of the tower crane. The materials that&#13;
will be used in the research are as follows: classical steel and the following composite&#13;
materials: carbon fiber and fiberglass. For the expediency of the research, the&#13;
characteristics of composite materials in stress should be similar to classical materials.&#13;
The experimental part of the research consists of comparing the parameters of the tower&#13;
crane specified above, using different materials. The results of this study showed that a crane&#13;
made of innovative composite materials and especially carbon fiber, has the lowest weight,&#13;
i.e. about 20% of the weight of a classic steel crane, but has the same load capacity&#13;
characteristics. The reliability of tower crane components made of composite materials is&#13;
similar to the reliability of components made of steel.

<title>Extending the Input and Transformation Space of Different TP Models: An LMI-based Feasibility Analysis</title>
<link>http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.14044/35209</link>
<description>Extending the Input and Transformation Space of Different TP Models: An LMI-based Feasibility Analysis
Wéber, Andrea; Kuczmann, Miklós; Baranyi, Péter
This paper discusses that the selection and modification of the input and the&#13;
transformation space, of the Tensor Product (TP) model representation, of a given quasi–&#13;
Linear Parameter Varying (qLPV) state‐space model, has an influence on the feasibility&#13;
regions of the Linear Matrix Inequality (LMI) based control design techniques. Moreover,&#13;
three factors affect the feasibility regions of the LMI-based control design:&#13;
The manipulation of the position of vertices&#13;
The number of the inputs of the TS fuzzy model representation&#13;
Modifying the transformation space&#13;
The proof is based on a complex control design example, where the impact of the above&#13;
factors can be clearly demonstrated. Furthermore, the paper presents that the maximal and&#13;
minimal parameter space of the controller depends on factors (i) and (ii). The aim of the&#13;
feasibility test is to show that there exists a solution for LMIs or not, considering these&#13;
factors. The example is based on the academic Translational Oscillator with Rotational&#13;
Actuator (TORA) system. Then, the TP model transformation-based framework is used to&#13;
vary the input space of the TP model representation. In addition, the paper gives a very&#13;
decisive conclusion that the design technique may be sensitive for the input space of the TS&#13;
fuzzy model, hence it is necessary to consider the number of inputs, the transformation space&#13;
and the gains defined on the inputs when a TP model is generated to achieve the best solution&#13;
to the control purposes. All in all, this paper investigates the effect of input space modification of the TP model representation of a given qLPV state-space model on the&#13;
feasibility regions of LMI-based controller design methods

<title>Thermal Property Investigation of a Simplified, Dye-Sensitized Solar Cell: Analyzing the Heat Transfer in Solids and Fluids, with a Turbulent Flow, for Open-Circuit Voltage Calculations</title>

<description>Thermal Property Investigation of a Simplified, Dye-Sensitized Solar Cell: Analyzing the Heat Transfer in Solids and Fluids, with a Turbulent Flow, for Open-Circuit Voltage Calculations
Rácz, Ervin
Utilizing renewable energy sources is a long-term mitigation solution. Electricity&#13;
generation by photovoltaic (PV) is growing rapidly and PV is at the forefront of the&#13;
renewable energy revolution. Dye-Sensitized Solar Cell (DSSC) is one of the more popular&#13;
transparent solar cells used for architectures. Additionally, DSSC is a cost-effective solar&#13;
cell and simple to manufacture because of the inexpensive materials, which are used in the&#13;
fabrication processes. This article explores a method to optimize the thermal properties of&#13;
the DSSC. For the simulation COMSOL Multiphysics software usage has been used and 3-&#13;
dimensional scheme via numerically solved coupled models – such as heat transfer in solids&#13;
and fluids, and turbulent flow – in stationary mode have been applied. Boundary conditions&#13;
have been added and described in great details. For the optimization process, the glass&#13;
substrate has been modified. The temperature distribution in the volume and in the surface;&#13;
pressure distribution in the volume; and velocity distribution in the volume have been&#13;
presented. On the other hand, the temperature distribution, along a line, is extracted from&#13;
the 3-dimensional geometry, to analyze the thermal behavior and use for further&#13;
investigation, the electrical behavior of the Dye-Sensitized Solar Cell. The results show that&#13;
the higher temperature, which is located at the top part of the geometry, is 318 K.&#13;
The calculated open-circuit voltage of the cell is between 448 mV and 452 mV and the&#13;
gradient is −2 &#119898;&#119898;&#119898;&#119898;/°&#119862;&#119862;

<title>The Implications of Electric Scooters as a New Technology Artifact in Urban Transportation</title>
<link>http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.14044/35207</link>
<description>The Implications of Electric Scooters as a New Technology Artifact in Urban Transportation
Szemere, Dorottya; Nemeslaki, András
E-scooters are becoming an increasingly important component of urban&#13;
transportation networks, providing a sustainable alternative for first and last-mile travel.&#13;
However, if they are not managed and regulated carefully, they can become a risk to users&#13;
and cities in general. In this paper, we studied the emergence of this innovative, platform-&#13;
based, and shareable e-scooter, as a possible ‘greener’ transport alternative, from a&#13;
sustainability and environmental awareness perspective. The most critical question is&#13;
legislation. Urban planners need to implement laws limiting maximum speeds, requiring the&#13;
use of e-scooter infrastructure, and providing dedicated parking, as well as limiting the&#13;
number of licensed operators. In our exploratory research, we conducted three focus group&#13;
discussions to explore the views of non-users and then built the nomological network from&#13;
the key phenomenons they identified. The participants are confused about micro-mobility&#13;
solutions, according to the findings, due to a lack of clarity on regulatory problems and poor&#13;
infrastructure. As a result, we propose that policies should be co-developed in cooperation&#13;
with various stakeholders to enable antagonistic conversation about alternative policy&#13;
actions by evaluating their effectiveness in terms of behavioral change as well as their&#13;
implementability.
