Air pollution is one of the most significant environmental concerns. It can cause adverse health effects like&#13;
cancer, cardiovascular diseases and high levels of mortality. High population size is a key contributory factor to air&#13;
pollution in industrial and metropolitan areas. This article focuses on pollution caused by vehicles, presents extensions&#13;
to the current methods and future methodologies that are used to the decarbonisation of transport and to estimate the&#13;
association between air pollution exposure and the risks to human health. This paper is centered around two specific&#13;
topics, all of which focus on greenering transport. First is about air quality problems in Hungary caused by transport&#13;
and the possible environmental projects ranked by KTI expert group for decision makers to choose the appropriate one&#13;
for solve current problems; the second is a practical one, presents a special Hungarian project for greenering&#13;
transport: a roadside inspection survey of the actual vehicles’ technical condition and its emission in traffic, to explore&#13;
the causes of high emissions, to look for ways to reduce emissions; to make feasibility studies for options of greenering&#13;
and to plan action projects based on these feasibility studies.

The development of the economy promotes the growth of the travel market, creating challenges and&#13;
opportunities for the development of the transportation system. Increased income and personal demands are also&#13;
conditions for people to buy and use vehicles. Habits and needs are one of the main leading causes of environmental&#13;
pollution, especially air pollution. This article focuses on the pollution caused by vehicles. The process of checking the&#13;
quality of a car before it is put into production is very complicated, combining many inspection steps. This article is&#13;
about the PEMS method that meets Euro 6 standards, should be widely applied in the future not only for passenger cars&#13;
but also for heavy vehicles and others. According to the measurements, Volkswagen Golf met the Euro 6b limits for the&#13;
NEDC and PEMS test in lighter conditions. Detected values were well below the limit value. Skoda Octavia is well&#13;
below the limit value for carbon monoxide in the RDE-PEMS test; however, NOx emissions were 2-3 times higher than&#13;
in the NEDC test. Emissions of vehicles in the laboratory test are different from the actual environment, so the use of&#13;
PEMS for vehicle testing is necessary.

<title>Environmental of aircraft maintenance and renovation at the Liszt Ferenc repair base - summary</title>

Szeder, András
E.A.F. Bayoumi Hamuda, Prof. Dr. Hosam
During my research I tried to draw attention to the environmental risks arising during the activities of the&#13;
airplane repair base at Liszt Ferenc Airport. Since its foundation, 58 Boeing and 42 Airbus aircraft have rolled out of&#13;
the Liszt Ferenc repair base in a brand new, refurbished condition. It is worth mentioning here that in a hangar they&#13;
usually deal with the repair of two machines at the same time. It is planned that over time, wide-body aircraft will also&#13;
be repaired in Hungary. In my research I describe the environmental problems caused by transport, including aviation.&#13;
I describe the emissions to the environment during the maintenance and renovation of aircrafts at the repaiar base.&#13;
Within this topic, I would like to discuss in more detail the problems of waste generation, waste management,&#13;
wastewater discharge, noise pollution and air pollution in the light of the technological processes of maintenance,&#13;
repairs and renovations. In addition to the effects on the environment, special attention must be paid to the effects that&#13;
adversely affect the health of the workers on the Repair Base. In the course of my work, I focus on one of the most&#13;
critical technologies of major repairs, paint removal in connection with the renovation of machine bodies, and air&#13;
pollution during the painting process. I examined the extent of personal exposure of workers and the qualitative and&#13;
quantitative characteristics of air pollution, taking into account the presence of toxic substances that are extremely&#13;
harmful to health and the environment. My aim is to highlight the critical points associated with environmentally&#13;
harmful emissions in order to protect the environment and the health of workers, and to draw attention, where&#13;
necessary, to the need to take appropriate measures. It would be useful to extend the scope of separate collection not&#13;
only to paper and wood waste, but also to other recyclable waste materials. The waste on the base is transported,&#13;
disposed of and recycled by specialized companies contracted for this purpose only.

The new strategy of higher education - Graduation in Higher Education, Guidelines for the Development of&#13;
Performance-Based Higher Education - expects a higher proportion of practice-oriented education in engineering&#13;
education, as it provides the basis for the development of professional competencies. This includes in particular the co-&#13;
emergence of knowledge, skills, attitudes and the ability to take responsibility. The competency development of students&#13;
majoring in environmental engineering s need to be supported by field work and practical activities based on examples&#13;
taken from the real life problems and the solutions. Practice-oriented education promotes the development of internal,&#13;
self-regulatory motivation, which is necessary for the further acquisition of knowledge in an individual way, for the&#13;
development of ability of lifelong learning. By providing an opportunity to expand the teaching-learning space and&#13;
considering fieldwork as an integral part of the training, project education creates the conditions for competence-based&#13;
training, contributes to the development of responsible, environmentally conscious behaviour towards the environment,&#13;
as well as the system approach that is essential for engineering activities.
